Top 7 Things to do in Edmonton this Spring

The time has come… we are entering into sunny, spring days here in Edmonton. While it might be hard to believe with the recent fresh snow and cold temperatures, the sunny season is coming in HOT (pun intended). And after two years of uncertainty, things are looking up. So, in that spirit, we have comprised a list of how to make the most of your Spring here in YEG!

1. Edmonton Oilers game

Head over to Rogers Place to cheer on your local hockey team! The lively atmosphere is sure to make for a fun experience! Plus, you’ll get to see two of the best players in the NHL – Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl! Score!

  1. Royal Alberta Museum

There is a brand new exhibit to explore at the Royal Alberta Museum called DRIVE: Reimagining the Ride. This exhibit features vehicles spanning a hundred years including vintage autos, a solar vehicle, and a Tinker Garage. The exhibit is included with general museum admission and runs until April 2023.

  1. Elk Island National Park

35 minutes east of Edmonton lies a natural wonderland open all year long! Elk Island is a refuge for bison, elk and more than 250 bird species. Gaze at a starry sky free from city lights or follow the footprints of a bison and learn how this magnificent animal was brought back from near extinction. Elk Island National Park is also an oasis for day picnickers and overnight campers alike.

  1. Telus World of Science

There is always fun to be had at the Telus World of Science! The Zeidler Dome is back up and running and recent renovations mean there is a brand new Health Zone and Science Garage at the centre at 11211 142St.

  1. West Edmonton Mall

Shop ‘til ya drop at North America’s Largest Shopping Mall! West Edmonton Mall is a one stop destination for entertainment and widest variety of retailers. Peruse the over 800 stores and services or explore the 11 world-class attractions such as: The World Waterpark, Galaxyland, Marine Life, Ice Palace, Dragon’s Tale, Adventure Golf. Lastly, attend any of the incredible events held at the mall. Coming up – Voices for Ukraine presented by Cooper Studios at Centre Stage (Level One, Phase I).

The John Janzen Nature Centre takes visitors for a walk on the wild side with programs, events, and interactive exhibits designed to promote awareness and engagement with nature in an urban setting. The facility has undergone a refresh in partnership with the Edmonton Nature Centres Foundation, including an updated Tegler Discovery Zone and an all new exhibit room!

7. Alberta Aviation Museum

Plan to visit the Alberta Aviation Museum and embark on a journey to discover the wonderous history of Blatchford Field where, for almost a century, countless pioneers f flight helped establish Edmonton as Canada’s Gateway to the North. Explore the evolution of flight in Alberta – from bus planes, bombers, jets and more!
